Carl Ogren

Carl E. Ogren age 77 of Gibbon passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the Benedictine Living Community in St. Peter. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2022 at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at the Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Carl is survived by his wife Jan; sons, Brian (Sarah) Ogren, Chad (Tracy) Ogren, Darin (Angie) Ogren; grandchildren, Mikayla, Trevor, Paige, Gabe, Tiffany, Chris and Nick; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Tristen and Dominic; sister, Arlys Persson; sisters-in-law, Carol Brandt, Alice (Jim) Coleman; brother-in-law, Karl (Diane) Holtz and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Duane Ogren; sisters, Beverly Flohrs, Shirley Schurtz; sister-in-law, Ramona Holtz; brother-in-law, Eldred Brandt and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harlin and Nancy Holtz. Carl Emil Ogren was born July 30, 1944 to Emil and Leone (Tourtellott) Ogren in Triumph, MN. He graduated from Trimont High School in 1962. Carl was united in marriage to Janice Holtz on September 5, 1964 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont. In 1969 the couple moved to Gibbon where he managed the fertilizer plant. In 1984 Carl and Jan purchased the Ogren Insurance Agency they owned and operated until his son took over the agency in 2002. Carl was a member of the Gibbon Lion’s Club for 50 years, Gibbon Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years and an active member of the Augustana Lutheran Church since 1969. Carl enjoyed music, the church choir, golf, horseshoes, softball, camping and fishing but above all else he loved to spend time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
