Shirley Lauwagie

Shirley Lauwagie, 90, of Gibbon died Monday, January 2, 2023 at The Lodge in Winthrop. Mass of Christian burial was Monday, January 9, 2023 at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon with Father Mark Steffl celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the St. Willibrord’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was 9 – 10:30 AM Monday at church. The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon is handling the arrangements. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Kathy) Lauwagie of Maplewood, Marianne Lauwagie of Plymouth, Vickie (Kevin) Dreier of Gibbon; a son, Dale (Julia) Lauwagie of Mendota Heights; grandchildren, April (Christian) Rothe, Candice (Tim) Kmetz, Travis (Kelly) Dreier, Dawn (Todd) Ruschmeyer, Alan (Julie) Dreier, Kelly (Brett) Dittrich, Andrew (Claire) Lauwagie, Eric (Marie) Lauwagie and Sarah (fiancé Dreux); 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harry; son Glenn in infancy; and her brothers, Donald (Vivian) Berle, James Berle. Shirley Marie Berle was born September 17, 1932 in New Ulm to Frank and Lauretta (Weber) Berle. She was united in marriage to Harry Lauwagie on October 23, 1950 at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon. Shirley and Harry worked side by side and raised their children on their dairy farm near Stewart. She enjoyed watching Twins Baseball, sewing, quilting, card playing, casinos, travel and shopping.
