Thunderbirds post wins over Wabasso, Madelia

The GFW Thunderbird girls basketball team had a great week defeating Madelia on Monday 64-53 and Wabasso on Tuesday 67-36 before falling at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Friday 80-26.
Madelia would take an 8-6 lead over the T-Birds but GFW would score the next nine points to take a 15-8 lead. Nicole Duehn scored inside on an inbounds pass and then hit a turn-around baseline jumper. Kora Schwarz-rock converted on a fast-break layup and Maddy Lee got a steal and layup before Keyden Buboltz made a free throw.
Up 20-16, Trinity Stearns scored off an inbounds pass and then came up with a steal and layup. Kinley Bruns hit one free throw and Duehn made a nice move in the post giving GFW a 27-16 lead.
