Firebirds prevail by six over Lester Prairie

by Michael Mattison
The GFW Firebirds boys basketball team was involved in a seesaw battle with Lester Prairie last week but ultimately came away with a 67-61 victory.
Back-to-back three-pointers by Owen Swenson and Eric Herrera would put the Firebirds up 11-6 but Lester Prairie would score 11 straight points for a 17-11 lead.
Three free throws from Herrera, a triple from Jacobson plus two free throws and a baseline jumper by Herrera gave the Firebirds the lead at 21-20.
After a Lester Prairie score, Jacobson scored inside and Kaden Rieke hit three of four from the charity stripe and GFW led 26-22.
